Why get a BDL mentor

Advice from people who have done it.

Expert guidance

Matched to what you need

Mentors with years in marketing, finance, sales, operations, leadership and law, chosen for the help you ask for.

Flexible

On your schedule

One conversation about a specific question, or regular conversations over a few months. Online or by phone, from wherever you are.

Free

No fee, ever

Our mentors volunteer their time. There is nothing to pay, and you do not need to be in a BDL programme.

How it works

From your request to your first conversation.

  1. Tell us about your business

What you do, where you are, and the help you need most. It takes about five minutes.

  2. We find the right mentor

We read every request and look for someone whose experience fits. Entrepreneurs in a BDL programme are matched first, and finding the right person can take a little while.

  3. We introduce you by email

One email to you both, with a little about each of you, so the first conversation starts in the right place.

  4. Talk, then act

Start with a 30 minute call. Bring your biggest question, and tell your mentor what you did with their advice. We check in with you both along the way.

Make the most of it

What makes mentoring work.

  • Be clear about your goal. Bring the one question that matters most right now.
  • Respect your mentor's time. They are volunteering, so be on time and come prepared.
  • Stay open to honest feedback, even when it is not what you hoped to hear.
  • Keep in touch. Tell your mentor what you did with their advice.
  • Free. Our mentors volunteer.
  • Online or by phone.
  • For entrepreneurs aged 16 and over.
  • BDL programme participants are matched first.

After you ask

We email you straight away to confirm. When we find a mentor whose experience fits, we introduce you both by email.
